Quality Healthcare

Healthy communities provide a better environment in which to do business. In our region, top quality healthcare has been a longstanding priority. At every level, from preventive care to emergency responders, local hospitals, and clinics, healthcare providers are nationally recognized for excellence.

Aiken Regional Medical Center (ARMC), located in Aiken, SC, has been named the #1 and most caring hospital region by residents of Aiken, Barnwell, and Edgefield Counties. Some of the services provided by ARMC include: neuroscience center, cancer care institute, and orthopedic. Similarly, but on a smaller scale, Edgefield County Hospital delivers excellence in emergency, respiratory, and cardiac care, along with rehabilitation services. To better respond to emergency situations in this rural area, the hospital is also equipped with a helipad at the front of the building.

Other healthcare providers are strategically located within or around our region. Right across the Savannah River in Augusta, GA, several hospitals have been recognized for the quality of their services. University Hospital is ranked 8th in the nation for general surgery by CareChex, an information service providing hospital and health system quality ratings. Doctors Hospital was named a top performer for Key Quality Measures by the Joint Commission. Accreditation from the Joint Commission is a nationwide seal of approval that indicates the hospital complies with the highest national standards for safety and quality of care and is committed to continually improving patient care.

North of the region, Lexington Medical Center is undergoing the largest hospital expansion in South Carolina history by creating a new patient tower to open in 2019. The center was named Columbia’s “Best Place to Have a Baby”, “Best Hospital” and one of the “Top 25 Best Hospitals to Work for in the U.S.”. Newberry County Memorial Hospital is ranked in the top 10% of hospitals in the nation for quality by the National Hospital Quality Initiative, and is ranked in the top 10% of hospitals in the nation for joint replacement.
