North Augusta, SC—SRP Federal Credit Union Breaks Ground for New Administrative Campus

Today at 4pm, SRP Federal Credit Union broke ground for its new administrative campus, to be located at the intersection of Highway 25 and Walnut Lane in North Augusta, approximately one mile North of I-20. The facility will be convenient to the intersection of the next phase of the Palmetto Parkway, scheduled for completion late next year.

According to Ed Templeton, President of SRP Federal Credit Union, “This is the most significant construction project in the 48- year history of SRP Federal Credit Union. The completion of this new headquarter facility will allow us the ability to offer increased products and services that are consistent with the future needs of our growing membership. On behalf of our volunteer board of directors, our committed employees and especially our loyal membership, we are pleased that this day has arrived. We really look forward to the completion of this building and the relocation of our operations in the fall of 2009.”

The new headquarters of SRPFCU will include a full-service branch with walk-up and drive-thru ATMs, including eight-lanes for drive thru services and ATM access. Additionally, the new facility will house all administrative and operational offices. The building will initially provide 90,000 square feet of office space, while also planning for long term expansion in the future.

“The City of North Augusta is honored and excited that SRP has chosen our city to build their new corporate headquarters. In today’s competitive economic market, SRP’s growth and success is phenomenal!  North Augusta is strategically located in the middle of SRP’s expanding customer base.  We are pleased to play a role in this new headquarters and wish SRP continued success in the future,” said Lark Jones, Mayor, City of North Augusta.

“SRP Federal Credit Union has been a South Carolina financial institution for 48 years and in that time it has grown to serve more than 90,000 members. Their decision to expand here is positive reflection of the South Carolina’s business friendly climate and the strength of our state’s workforce.  This expansion will generate new high-paying jobs and grow the financial services industry in our state. We wish them continued success and look forward to a long mutually beneficial relationship with them in the years ahead,” said Joe Taylor, South Carolina Secretary of Commerce.

“Congratulations to the entire SRP Federal Credit Union family on the groundbreaking of your new Administrative Campus. This complex ensures efficiency in consolidating your operations and administrative functions, along with the opportunity to further enhance the support you provide each service center. Your thousands of members and the North Augusta community can be proud of your progressive approach and the benefit this will bring them,” said Garry Parks, President/CEO of the SC Credit Union League & Affiliates.

Established in March 1960, SRP Federal Credit Union converted to a community charter in June 2003. This charter provides membership eligibility to anyone who lives, works, worships, volunteers, or attends school in the South Carolina counties of Aiken, Allendale, Barnwell, and Edgefield, and the Georgia counties of Columbia, McDuffie and Richmond.  With over 90,000 members and $500 million in assets, SRP Federal Credit Union has over 340 employees.
